A career in design can take you down some interesting paths. I used to start these personal statements with my path from college to my design job at UPS. But nearly 10 years out of college and almost 6 years in my current position as a corporate “graphic” designer, I see the world a little differently.

I recognize that design and business are intersecting in new and intriguing ways. I realize that to be competitive in this job market you have to have a skill set that is best described as multi-purpose. To meet this challenge, I take my many varied interests and develop them into profitable skills.

I have redefined my role to be a “media” designer who is able to design for print, develop a user-interface, draw an illustration, take a photograph, or shoot and edit a video. I am a business owner as well as an employee of big business, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
